Announcement!!! Engine Designer/Blueprinter Andrew Burr of Vertical Performance Systems, LLC won the Rotorway International innovation award for his designs to enhance the Rotorway helicopters. His prize was $1,000.00 cash from Rotorway President Grant Norwitz and was presented at the annual awards banquet.

All work performed at Vertical Performance Systems, LLC is performed by our on-staff FAA certified Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics or under the direct supervision of our on-staff FAA certified A&P mechanics. The new Vertical Performance Systems, LLC engine for Experimental helicopters incorporates new roller rockers that need only to be checked for adjustment every 100 hours instead of every 25 hours that the stock rockers require. Announcement!! Andrew has completed 4 VPS engines as of 8/12/10 and all are now flying in the. Beta flight test program. Engine # 5 is on the build stand and should be complete next week. That engine will be going to California for flight testing. It is our hope that by the end of 2010 we will have enough data from our Beta test program to allow us to offer the VPS engine to the Rotorway helicopter community. Mike Doles continually flew his VPS, LLc-powered Rotorway helicopter at Homers fly-in in July of this year. | The oil tank sump must be vented so that moisture in the oil can escape and the engine can breathe. The stock configuration vents this oil mist all over the engine compartment and drive belts. Vertical Performance, LLC oil tank vent cap directs this oil mist and moisture overboard where it cannot create problems. | ![]() |
