ECU's The new VPS ECU installation allows full access to the engine compartment because the ECUs are mounted to the passenger side seat back and fold down flat onto the seat bottom. All of the spark coils and wires are out of the way as can be seen in the below photo. VPS supplies an engraved coil mounting plate that mounts to the Rotorway helicopter frame out of the way providing exceptional access to the engine compartment. The center seat back panel can easily be romoved by removing two screws to allow for unlimited access to the engine compartment.

After
several years of testing we have achieved full independent redundancy
with the new ECU's. Both ECU's operate identically at the same time, unlike
the stock Rotorway 162F ECU's where one takes over after the other one
fails. The pilot can start the engine on either ECU, run the engine on
either ECU, and run the engine on both ECUs. This is a big achievement
. These ECU's have undergone extreme testing in our state of the art Dynomometer
test cell and
are currently undergoing continuing testing in our test ships.
