ECU's

The new VPS ECU installation allows full access to the engine compartment because the ECUs are mounted to the passenger side seat back and fold down flat onto the seat bottom. All of the spark coils and wires are out of the way as can be seen in the below photo. VPS supplies an engraved coil mounting plate that mounts to the Rotorway helicopter frame out of the way providing exceptional access to the engine compartment.

The center seat back panel can easily be romoved by removing two screws to allow for unlimited access to the engine compartment.

After several years of testing we have achieved full independent redundancy with the new ECU's. Both ECU's operate identically at the same time, unlike the stock Rotorway 162F ECU's where one takes over after the other one fails. The pilot can start the engine on either ECU, run the engine on either ECU, and run the engine on both ECUs. This is a big achievement . These ECU's have undergone extreme testing in our state of the art Dynomometer test cell and are currently undergoing continuing testing in our test ships.

The ECU's are a direct replacement for the stock Rotorway ECUs. On the stock helicopter the VPS ECU wire harness just plugs directly into the Rotorway helicopters existing wire harness that comes down the passenger side frame tube. One needs to just remove the old harness and plug the new harness in.. The cost will be approximately $3,500 which is a lot cheaper than the new stock set up. This is a direct replacement for the old out-dated ECU's that no longer have parts support.

For the fixed wing market we are also in discussions with several manufactures in this market as well involving both our turbocharged and normally aspirated engines.
